We need a clearer path to healthy water resources. Using science and data-driven technology, we create tools to inform the way forward.
The 2NFORM team is a powerhouse of scientists and software dev experts who share a deep concern for the state of our natural resources. Together, we’ve created tools that help resource managers quantify the effectiveness of restorative actions—while demonstrating compliance with state regulations in a cost-effective way. We believe the way to better water quality is through solutions that are simple, visual, elegant, and—above all—scientifically defensible.
Nicole G. Beck, PhD
Nicole’s background is grounded in scientific and academic research in aquatic and terrestrial systems. Her focus lies in applied tools that preserve complex feedback cycles between physical, chemical, and biological processes—and the effects human land management has on ecosystem functions. She leads the 2NFORM team in their goal of developing data collection and reporting programs that are radically transforming the way natural resources are tracked and managed. In her free time, she surfs, mountain bikes, and lives vicariously through her two young girls.
Maggie leads the day-to-day translation of science into functional software code. With over a decade of experience in designing, implementing, and analyzing physical, chemical, and biological datasets, she is acutely aware of the challenges natural resource managers face with traditional approaches to data handling. Maggie is the glue that brings the science and software together to create practical, easy-to-use products. She is also the chair of Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks, and has been known to run a marathon at a moment’s notice.
Nat Evatt, MS
Lead Software Engineer
Nat is a full-stack developer with years of spatial programming experience in developing large-scale, multiuser online platforms for both private and public clients. He’s a map geek and a virtual expert in web-mapping technology. Along with his deep experience in several spatial platforms (like GoogleMaps and ESRI products) and in open-source technologies (like Leaflet and Mapbox), he prides himself on being at the cutting edge of Web GIS technology. When Nat’s head isn’t buried in his work, you can find him mountain biking or climbing in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Gary Conley, MS
Gary brings to the 2NFORM team an effective mix of technical data systems and practical applied solutions. His experience includes statistical analysis techniques, model building, database development and management, and interactive web-mapping design. His applied research includes watershed hydrology and pollutant dynamics, water quality monitoring design, fluvial geomorphology, satellite remote sensing of land cover change, and stormwater modeling. In his spare time, Gary likes to chase after the best waves in the world—by motorbike.
